About Me
I've been playing guitar for 27 years, mainly rock and pop, and more recently as an acoustic singer-songwriter. If you want to hear some of my work please check out my MySpace page. Originally based in Cambridgeshire and then London, I was songwriter, singer and guitarist in Moreau's Island, a band that received Radio 1 play and national press exposure. I have been teaching in Sheffield now for 4 years and am also employed by the Sheffield Music Service to teach in schools, and so I am fully CRB checked.
The Lessons
My approach to the lessons is to get people up and running playing what they want to play as soon as possible. I can teach many different styles, from beginners classical, to acoustic fingerstyle, electric lead, blues, metal, country - you name it! My approach is song-based and I have a huge library of songs, solos etc, however it's totally up to you what you learn. If you want a more academic approach, you can take exams Grade 1-8 through me. Electric Guitar and bass exams are provided by the Registry of Guitar Tutors and Rock School. Classical exams are taken through The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. What I won't do is make you spend the lesson watching me play widdly widdly guitar solos while you sit there bored rigid.
